Well this blog certainly fizzled out, didn't it? I am pretty sure I have no readers, but will apologize anyway. I just lost interest to tell you the truth and have been busy with plain old life.

I have been making quite a few things though and I have come to the conclusion that quilts are my thing. I can do other works, but quilts re what I love and really take my time with. Everything else just seems like work.

I love to read blogs about quilting and patterns and the colors, oh my! If you love color, you HAVE to go to Redpepper quilts. Oh, or Stitched in Color...but then there is In Color Order and so many others. I am definitely a modern quilt girl though. I have to have jazz and color for sure. Of course to be honest, I am a little scared of my fabric stash and get overwhelmed at times. I know I should just dive in, but I don't. I honestly need someone to some in and help me pick fabric for quilts. Know anyone? Just asking.

I have been cooking some pretty good meals lately, thanks to Pinterest. This one was a big hit and this one too. My family seems to really like almost everything I fix, but it is very important that I really liked them too because not only am I the cook, but I am a little pickier, lol. I do fix things that I don't like too though.

My daughter and son in law are looking at houses and I hope they find the perfect one. I guess the housing market isn't doing too bad as every house so far, they have bid on has gone to another bidder. She just sent me a listing of one that is perfect for them though and I really hope they go for it.

My grand baby is stupendous! He is starting to talk now. Says "ball". Soon it will be "Nana", I just know it. ;) He turned one in January. See? busy. We had an extravaganza here for this little one year old too. A blow up bouncy house/slide, Cat in the Hat cake(s), yes that is multiple cakes, and cupcakes. Balloons, Dr. Seuss books and of course a smash cake. See? Isn't he cute?

I love that kid so much...

Anyway, I will try to be much better about posting. I have lots of pictures of my quilts and the little guy above too. Thanks for reading. xoxo

Blueberry Lime cake

So, I don't know if you are as enamored with Pinterest, as I am, but I found this Blueberry Lime cake on there...I love lime anything so I was driven to make it.

This is the original link if you want to check it out. Her pictures are prettier than mine and I am pretty sure I should have put it on a white or lighter plate before I took the picture, but it is the cake, after all, that matters. :)

So, I didn't go by her recipe because I was in a bit of a hurry. I had frozen blueberries (thawing) and a yellow cake mix to utilize so I just kind of winged it. Here goes.

1 yellow cake mix
3 eggs
1/3 c oil
1/2 c water
1/2 c blueberry juice (from thawing bberries)
6 oz. fresh blueberries (I used what thawed and it ended up being a pound +)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix first five ingredients until all is mixed well. Save out a little of the dry cake mix to coat the fresh berries later. The batter turns kind of a gray/blue/green color, but check out the end result picture, you won't mind, lol. Ok, back to it. Once the 5 ingredients are mixed, coat the fresh berries with the dry cake mix and fold into the cake. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Simple Lime Syrup:
1/3 c lime juice
2 Tbs Splenda

After the cake has cooled for a few minutes, mix the simple syrup, prick the top of the cake and pour over the cake. Let it soak in.

Glaze:
2 Tbsp Lime juice
Confectioners’ sugar

Mix in confectioners’ sugar to make a suitable glaze. Ice individual pieces of pour over the cake, either way will do.

Ta-da! What do you think?

Notes:
· I baked in a 9 x 13 pan because I couldn't find my darn Bundt.
· My berries were previously frozen so they were wet and starting to mush so I gently placed them on top of the batter and let them sink on their own as the cake baked.
· I would not recommend using a pound of blueberries. It turned out wonderful, mind you, but the whole bottom of the pan is blueberries, lol. Hey, they didn't stick so that is a plus.

Comments are always welcome so let me know if you have any.
Have a stupendous day!!!

Thanks for reading!

Busy, busy...

I have been so busy lately. I am working on two rather big (for me) quilts, a couple of grocery cart covers and a rag quilt. I have some other projects in the que, but haven't started those yet. I want to finish these before getting into anything else.

My grandson is getting bigger by the minute. My daughter brought him over the other day and he is a mess already. A happy mess though so that is a good thing. Daddy had to work, but we'll see him next time. We live on a lake and we took him down to 'swim'. From what I can tell he is going to love the water. He is the 5th generation to be "brought up" in that lake and to me that is just so special. I love that he gets to be here and grow up with this property.

That is about it for now, but here are a couple of pictures of the big quilts I am working on. Still need to get the batting and backing material and I will be closer to finishing. Yay!

Hi there,

This is my blog where I will write about life, hobbies, recipes, creative moments & every day stuff.

I love God and my family. I love to cook, quilt and read favorite blogs. I am a couponer and a meal planner in training. I love to do laundry and grocery shop, make lists and get things done. I am not OCD, but when I do something NOT on my list, I will write it on there, lol. I spend way too much time on Pinterest but I love it.

Comments and suggestions are always welcome. Just play nice. :)

Thanks for stopping by!
